World Cup Warriors
3D Printing in Oakland!
In our 3D Printing class, our campers have been hard at work designing and printing their own imaginative creations. Some items that were printed this week included penguins, The Leaning Tower of Pisa, and the Volvo car logo. Our camper in the above picture printed out the logo from the comic book "The Flash!"
Movie Stars
In Princeton's Stop-Action Animation class, the students are putting together a movie by taking many still shots and then playing them in quick succession. They brainstormed a story that they wanted to tell, and then moved the toys around inside the box with their backdrop, taking pictures of each new position as they went. When they put all the pictures together into a movie, they will have a complete story!
To Infinity...and Beyond!
In Princeton's Flight and Aerospace Engineering class, the students learned about aerodynamics by building rockets and launching them to see what type of rocket flies the best. Different lengths, diameters, and materials were tested to create the best rocket possible. In this picture, the boys are launching a rocket by jumping on the air pump to send the rocket into the air.
Juggling fun and learning
Two of our campers working with our juggling extraordinaire, Lou. |
Here at Burlington, we've taken a new spin on break time, a perfect balance of fun and learning! Here's the catch: Juggling! Thanks to our amazing instructors, we've gotten the whole camp up in arms about tossing bean bags. The campers have learned how to properly juggle with two bean bags and many are learning to fully juggle with three. Don't mistake this for clowning around, We're practicing important hand-eye coordination and concentration!
Life Through a Lens
Princeton's Anatomy and Surgical Procedures class is learning to use their microscopes! They made their own slides to look at and took a look at some pre-made ones as well. They enjoyed playing with the magnification, and they were amazed by how much they could magnify tiny things.
Keeping it COOL at Paramus
Campers at Paramus kept cool from the summer heat, and took a break from all fun they were having doing Public Speaking, Minecraft Math, and Video Game Creation, to participate in Wednesday "Wet Day"! Pairs of campers competed against each other in multiple games of water balloon toss, and took turns dunking each other in the dunk chair. Fun was had by all. You can even say it was "dab-tastic"!
Danny the Dinosaur
This morning at Short Hills, one of our campers brought in a story they made for a counselor. Filled with amazing pictures and incredible pictures, the counselor definitely enjoyed receiving this gift! It was a great way to start off another cheerful day at International Ivy.
