End of the week relay races at Short Hills

We love ending the week with fun relay races like crab walks, bear walks, potato sack races and more! The winning team all got ivy points which they got to use at the treasure chest which holds many awesome prizes.

A High Tech Week in Paramus!

This week our students were technical designers in three unique classes: Java Level 1, Robotics Level 2, and Biomedical Engineering: Designing Knee Braces.  Our Java students learned the basics of the Java programming language, and challenged themselves to develop their own programs.  Robotics students learned programming methods and structural design that helped them create successful "battle-bots" and other robots.  In Biomedical Engineering, the students researched the needs of a patient with an injured knee and used that information to make their own knee brace design.  For now, this week meant a lot of fun for campers, but perhaps in the future, this week will have created a better world!

Tune in to Chopped Ivy in Summit!

Welcome to Chopped Ivy! Similarly to the television show on The Food Network, our campers will be competing in a challenge to create the most creative dish using all of the ingredients in our mystery basket. To prepare, students watched an episode of Chopped Junior in hopes of seeking inspiration for their own dishes. The rules of our challenge state that campers must use all basket ingredients and plate their meals before the time is up. Campers will be rated on the creativity, taste, and presentation of their dishes.

Today was the start of our two day challenge!

Our campers unveiled the ingredients in the mystery box!

Mystery ingredients included instant noodles, mini marshmallows, coconut water, rice crispy treats, and pretzels.

We also got to see the first taste of one camper's dish!

Campers were asked to taste their own dish and give a review before the judges tried their food. This dish included noodles in coconut water with pretzels, marshmallows, and rice crispy treats mixed in.

BOO! Today was also Halloween in July at International Ivy. We had some amazing costumes!

Celebrating Halloween in July at Chatham

Superheroes, princesses, and stormtroopers, oh my! Tons of campers here at Chatham celebrated Halloween this Thursday, dressing up as cheerleaders, Transformers, and everything in between. Everything was more fun with a costume on, whether we were building robots in class, having a Star Wars battle on the playground, or playing crab soccer in the gym.

Camper S.G. showed her Ivy spirit by dressing as a ghoul.

Some campers came in twos -- campers H.Z. and M.C. were identical in their Transformer suits, and A.F. and M.F. matched as soccer stars. Double trouble!

The counselors were excited to show off their group costume as different holidays! We were feeling festive dressed as Earth Day, Easter, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, and Christmas.

Halloween in July @ Far Hillz

AHHHHHH!!!!! Its Halloween. In July?? Yes for all you October lovers, at International Ivy we celebrate Halloween in July. On last week's theme Thursday we were put to sleep as campers rolled in with their favorite pajamas, but this week we're sure to be up and ready as this theme Thursday consists of some scary costumes and even some cute ones too.

This day was brought back by popular demand and there are no signs of it going away soon. Halloween may not be for everyone but when its in the middle of the summer, it definitely brings out the best in all the campers.

And yes the counselors and teachers had to join in on the fun. And yes that is a pig in a blanket.

Week 4 here at Princeton

Our campers here at Princeton hit the ground running with some Minute to Win it Games on morning break. The highlight of the games (and a camper favorite) was Separation Anxiety in which campers must try to separate M&Ms into cups as fast as possible using just one hand! We had a practice round for each camper, then they were off! Check out the finals, came down to a photo finish with a single M&M separating first and second place.

Our week progressed on with wonderful weather and great classes!

Graphic Design and GIMP spent the first class creating their own personal logo that represents them.
Inch Worm
Robotics spent the first half of the week creating, building, and coding their animal creations

Fashion Design and the Sewing Machine didn't waste any time creating their own PJ pants

And of course, everyone's favorite day is Wednesday for WATER DAY!!
