A Kid's Experience at International Ivy - Somerset Week 6

Hi I'm Mahima, and I'm going to tell you about my experience at International Ivy. My first week here I did an acting class with an actor named Randy. We put on a play called
The Chicken and the Fox, it was a fun play. I had other classmates named Arden, Kylie, and Andrew. There was a big crowd, just like a real play. I was a raccoon and a fox. It was an amazing experience!

My second week there I did website designing. I did an American Girl website. Here is a video of me talking about my website: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxTXcXSsUC4&index=9&list=PLuBDbQ1DUI-U7fvNAiuvUmZtdpjca2qdI.

This week I am in Creative Writing Workshop and we wrote stories and poems. My classmates are Ding, Brandon, and Julian. I am having so much fun this week in Creative Writing Workshop.

Suddenly Sewing - Somerset - Week 6

This week, two lucky students have the opportunity of learning how to sew in Fashion and the Sewing Machine class. They are having a lot of fun! With the help of their instructor, the young ladies made pajamas and pillow cases! How cool is that? If we ever need a seamstress (or two), we know who to call!

Open for business!

As this weeks olympics at Short Hills gets more and more intense, the lemonade class opened up their shops to help cool off our competitors. They had lots different flavors to choose from like pomegranate, tropical, starw-mellon, and many more.
Some stands also decided to give a little extra and handed out chips and candy with each purchase. One stand even had a raffle and will be giving pokemon cards to a lucky camper!

Shark Tank is Under Pressure!

The Shark Tank Entrepreneurs at Caldwell are working so hard! It's 15 minutes until break time before the Ivy Olympic games continue, but these campers are using every minute to get their businesses going.
The campers each have their own businesses, but still help each other out!

This backwards-day spirited camper is relentlessly working on his store front!

He finished!

Now, onto more Ivy Olympic Games!

Wet Day Fun!

Today was the last Wet Day of the summer for campers here at Summit!  They surely had a blast soaking our counselors during the water fight. Check out the pictures and video below to see all of the fun that they had today during break.

Our campers are learning a lot in their classes this week, too!  We have many wonderful teachers who are helping campers to expand their knowledge of all things technology.  Watch one of our awesome instructors helping his students learn more about Scratch Programming Level 2!

A great hump day over at Livingston week 6!

Campers enjoyed an intense scavenger hunt during our afternoon break today! They excitingly ran through the gym and classrooms with their team to be the first ones to find everything on their list (ranging from rubber chickens to plastic cones).
These three campers worked really hard as a team to complete their hunt in record time, making them the winners!

This week the campers in our Vocabulary Building class have made their own vocab trees! Starting the tree with root words like "geo", they would then make stems coming off the tree with words like "geometric" or "geology".

"It was fun. We learned a lot of new words," a camper said.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work!

Here at Chatham our classes have been particularly great at working as teams in classes and at break time.

Learning to work as a team strengthens not only the lessons being learned in class but friendships as well.  Yesterday we played a new game, "5-4-3-2-1" in which students are asked to spontaneously group themselves in a specific number in order to not get eliminated.  There were groups of all ages working together to problem solve and work to make sure as many children as possible could get into groups.  Here are some pictures!

Check out our flickr page here to see more pictures from the week and to see all the great things the children are working on.

Olympics Day 3: Wet Day

Blue team is now in the lead with a score of 5 and red is a close second with a score of 3! Wet day was a little different today, we played a water balloon toss and other fun games for the two teams to compete in.

Princeton week 6

Good afternoon campers!!

Week 6 at Princeton has the campers building robots in all of our classes! Our Youngsters in Left Brain have been spending half their sessions practicing Math and typing skills while spending the rest of their session building amazing animal lego robots with our WeDo Robotics kits!

Drawings about their summer vacation

Our Robotics - Level 1 - have been enjoying building their various cars and racing them around our custom made track. The robotics begin with a simple vehicle and work towards a blue tooth dragster. Each camper builds their vehicle out of Legos then they code the vehicle to move with different commands.
