Halloween Mascots and Battle Bots

Halloween in Summit was a big hit, even our parents got involved with momma bird coming to pick up her baby bird at PUDO! Our staff was also smurfed out with Papa Smurf, Chef Smurf, Clumsy Smurf, Scaredy Smurf, Brainy Smurf, and Smurfette (not shown) making an appearance. In the classroom, one of the highlights this week was a battle bots event happening in our robotics vehicles class. All week the kids have worked on individualizing their robots through appearance and powers. Their designs were put to the test today when each robot entered the arena to fight for the production excellence award, bragging rights, and a much envied cash prize of 5 ivy points. It was a tough battle but this camper's bot came out on top, using his overhead swing mechanism to fend off his opponent!

Chatham Week 4

            Up, Up, and Away was the moto of the week by creating rockets and various other flying objects. These objects were tested with weights and many other variables to see which goes the farthest, longest, and fastest. Today we did an egg drop challenge. The campers had to create baskets for their eggs to keep from breaking when landing on a hard surface. Below are the videos. One camper was lucky enough to not have his break.

Original Games at Short Hills!

The Video Game Creation class for Beginners at Short Hills finished making their original games this Friday. They got to save their games to bring home and had fun playing with their friends' games too! These future game-makers had a great time this week.

Treasure Chest Day at Scotch Plains Week 4!

Fridays in Scotch Plains are always highly anticipated as the campers can cash in their Ivy Points and pick out a great prize from the treasure chest! All of the campers have worked hard throughout the week to make sure that they had plenty of Ivy Points to get the best prize possible. Fidget spinners have been a big hit throughout the weeks, yet occasionally a camper will take a cool pen or bouncy ball.

Halloween in Princeton!

   

It's Halloween in July here in Princeton!  We got in the spirit by wearing our costumes all day: while we were learning, and when we were taking a break to play and hang out.  We all had fun getting to be someone else--or something else--for a day.

Halloween In Chatham

Week 4

   Today at camp, it's our favorite day of the year: Halloween in July! Campers and staff always love this day more than any other. Costumes of Pokemon, Ninja Turtles, and inflatable ostriches and aliens all came out to celebrate. The counselors and teachers were a bunch of animals with their zoo keepers Matt and Ryan. Every year just gets more creative. Below is a slide show from the day!

Somerset - Week 4

Halloween in July has hit Somerset today! Staff and students dressed up in great costumes. This year, the staff dressed up as "Words with Friends" to spell out the words TEAM IVY and STEAM. 

These words represent the mission of International Ivy as we work together as a team to make sure campers have an awesome experience, and we run on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math).

Ready, Set... Color Wars!

This week in Summit, our red and blue teams have been going head to head in some fierce competitions! Tuesday we did some intense minute to win it games such as chopstick gummy bear race, cookie face, cup stacking, marshmallow mouth move, toilet paper mummy, and puzzle scavenger hunt. Wednesday was our relay race day (some of which are shown below); this included a 3-legged race, football toss, wobble walk, bean bag throw and more! Today we had red versus blue team soccer drills and games where the kids showed off their hidden soccer talents along with their amazing Halloween costumes. Tomorrow we are looking forward to discovering their basketball abilities as well as our tie-breaking counselor/teacher tug-of-war!

Halloween at Short Hills!

This Thursday was Halloween at Short Hills! Our campers had a great time dressing up and getting Ivy Points! While it may not be October 31st, International Ivy definitely had the Halloween spirit.

Even our counselors joined the fun. The counselors were fruit that fell out of the site directors basket!

Civil Engineering in Scotch Plains Week 4!

Some campers at our Scotch Plains location this week have the opportunity to learn all about civil engineering from our instructor, Maya! They have been making several structures with their new knowledge of some physics in the classroom. They are all enjoying being able to use different materials to achieve things like getting a building to touch the ceiling and also being able to support a stuffed animal with their creations!
