In Princeton's Anatomy and Surgical Techniques class, we're dissecting sheep brains!  First we learned about all the different parts of the brain and what they do, and we made ourselves brain hats.

Then we got to actually dissecting the brains!  We made different kinds of cuts to see what structures we could identify on the inside and on the outside of the brain.  It was a lot of fun, but it was a little smelly.

I. Am. A. Robot.

In Princeton's Youngster-WeDo Robotics class, our students are building and showing off their robots!



        

After they build the robot, they program them.  They can program them to have moving parts through a motor, and they can program them to make different noises.

My First Chemistry at Short Hills!

In the My First Chemistry class at Short Hills, the campers are learning a lot and having so much fun! They are learning important scientific techniques, including how to pipette and combine substances. The chemists perform new experiments everyday and understand new chemical concepts at the same time!

Bouncing into Engineering

Here in Burlington, the future engineers of the world are first tackling the task of creating polymers and bioplastics that serve a purpose.  In this case, their mission required immense patience as they sought to develop the perfect recipe for bouncy balls that could provide any child with hours of endless fun.  After much trial and testing, the best bouncy balls emerged from the messy concoction of wet glue, borox, and water.  Meanwhile, the campers learned of the amazing polymer opportunities that lie within these simple products.

Scotch Plains Week 7 - Public Speaking and Youth Leadership!!

This week at Scotch Plains a lot of campers are learning new public speaking skills in Public Speaking and Youth Leadership! Today, day 3, they have started preparing for their final presentations which will take place on Friday. They have been doing several "mini speeches" so they can get a feel of what the final speech will be like and so they can receive some constructive criticism from their peers on how they can improve. The final speeches are all based on social issues and will range from deforestation to space exploration! We all can't wait to see their final speeches!

Coming Soon to a Theater Near You!

In our Film-Making class in Oakland, our campers are learning how to generate movie ideas, create storyboards to display their ideas, and act out their creations. In the video above, our campers are in the process of filming one of the opening scenes for their upcoming hit movie "The Nacho Cheese Explosion." Although they are happily on their way to school, they will encounter a cheesy surprise when they arrive. What will our campers do? Find out soon in a theater near you!

Building Bridges at Short Hills

At Short Hills, the Civil Engineering class learned about creating bridges! They worked in groups to build a strong bridge and tested it by placing bolts on it. The civil engineers even learned about budgeting while trying to make a structurally secure bridge.

Meeting the Challenge in Paramus!

We are stoked for another exciting week at International Ivy Paramus! This week campers have some interesting classes that expose them to fun STEAM-based activities.

One class is Math Competition Training, where campers learn the strategies behind solving the worlds trickiest math puzzles. There is some fun competition with other campers along the way, but the best reward is knowing that even the world's quickest minds have tips that anyone can use!

In Graphic Design, students use an open-source program called, "Gimp" to manipulate images on the computer. They also are studying the principals and technique behind graphics we see every day, like business logos. They have used the program to change some of these logos, and also design their own!

Animal Robotics in Oakland!

In Oakland this week, our campers are hard at work building robots in our Robotic Animals course! They are using Lego Mindstorm to program their bots, and enjoy seeing their creations come to life. Yesterday, the campers watched a robotic inchworm wriggle it's way down the hall! Today, the campers are creating dolphins. They can't wait to see how their newest creations turn out!
