Farewell Friday at Scotch Plains Week 1 :(

We are having a blast here at Scotch Plains and can't believe the first week of camp is already coming to an end!  Our counselors and campers had fun playing water games on Wet Day and even wore silly hats yesterday for an Ivy point.  Check out the pictures from this week!

Today was full of excitement in all of our classes.  In the morning, Shark Tank Jr. presented their Final Sales Pitch to parents and counselors.  It was a full house!  The products were innovative and the presentations were informative. Great work, future entrepreneurs!  Then, campers in our Video Game creation classes tried out each others games.  What a challenge for everyone... counselors and teachers included!  The creativity at Scotch Plains this week was astounding and we can't wait for even more to come!

We also had our first talent show during break today! Many campers participated for an Ivy point and showed off their amazing talents.  We had gymnasts, magicians, singers, and even illustrators. Thanks for sharing your talents with us!

The first week of camp at Scotch Plains has been memorable and exciting to say the least. See you all next week!

Friendly Competitions at Short Hills

Throughout the week we had some friendly competitions in different activities. Counselors Maddie and Emma faced off with a camper playing jumbo connect four. Later in the week Counselor Tim fenced against all fencing campers. Also throughout the week campers in Robotics raced and tested their robots in the halls to see who could make the fastest one. We are excited for more fun challenges this summer. See you next week! :)

Wet Day and Crazy Hat Day @ Short Hills!

The fun continued during week one with Wet Day and Crazy Hat Day!!
Many campers came on Wednesday ready to slip and slide into Wet Day! The forecast called for rain but we said "NO WAY! WE NEED WET DAY!"
Things were getting really funky around here with all the crazy hats that campers and counselors wore on Thursday!

Sparta 2015 Week One!

Here in Sparta we had a CRAZY week!
In Sparta we had a very fun and busy week. In the mornings, the Robotics- Vehicles class had fun creating, racing and fighting different vehicles. The Minecraft Creative class loved building different things, including their dream house! In the afternoons, the Minecraft Survival class loved fighting off different "villians" like the Ender Dragon... and fighting each other! We all enjoyed playing different games during our breaks. Water day was definitely the favorite! Check out our Flickr album to see more of what we did. And watch two of our robots wrestle on youtube! (Links posted below :) )

Kareem
I am a good person.
I am friendly.
I love games and sports.
I have a younger brother and sister.
I love all my family.
I want to be a soccer player.
I like water, fruit salad, milk and candy.
I am afraid of tornadoes.
I give people without homes or cars:
food, water, even animals to make them smile.
I am happy.

Who would like a vacation,

Amiable, secretive, mature, creative
Sister of Manny and Jesse
Lover of my friends, family, old movies, books
Who feels joyful, adored, special,
Who needs my family, a relaxing day, the beach,
Who fears getting stranded on an island,
Who would like to not see people in poverty,
Who gives meatloaf to people in a soup kitchen,
Who lives in West Caldwell New Jersey.

Sister of Kareem and Omar,
Lover of friends, mom, dad, aunts, uncles
Who feels happy, amiable, robust, able
Who needs family games, family nights,
Who fears nothing,
Who would like more friends,
Who gives money, gifts, food to poor people,
Who lives in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Nice, friendly, imaginative, and intelligent
Child of Lily Wong and Jeff Lee
Lover of sleep, video games and books
Who feels loved,
Who needs a break, more money,
And more sleep,
Who fears bees,
Who would like to have more friends,
Free video games,
And to be ruler of the world,
Who gives money and love,
Who lives in the Milky Way.

Our First Week @ Oakland :)

This week we had some fantastic boys and girls excited to learn about Anatomy and Surgical Techniques, and Java Programming.  Below are some great pics and summaries of what has happened this week.

Java Programming:
Here Siddarth and CJ are working hard together to make the program run.
Here are some pictures of our programmers hard at work.  Michael and CJ had to remove their crazy hats so they can focus on the task at hand.  When this was taken, students had to design a program to add 3 numbers together.

Here Michael and Michael are working on a project assigned by their instructor.  The project during this picture was to design a tip calculator.  Who doesn't need a tip calculator?

Anatomy + Surgical Techniques:
Here camper Bella and counselor Josh were practicing their steady hands stitching a banana back together.

Here is our 3 campers Bella, Jane, and Zoe showing the banana after surgery.  I am happy to report our patients Bo and Tom will recover well thanks to the steady hand of our future doctors.

Here are 3 campers Jane, Bella, and Zoe are showing off both their anatomy and coloring skills for some awesome brain hats.

The highlight for the girls this week was performing dissections.  They examined both frogs and in these pictures were looking at actual sheep brains.  The girls showed great enthusiasm and concentration in taking apart the delicate pieces.
Special Events:
Wednesday was our Wet Day for the week.  The Dunk Tank was setup and boy was it put to good use.  Above you will see one of the victims Michael awaiting his fate, and below and beautiful action shot of another camper named Michael.

Thursday was crazy hat day and boy it was crazy.  We had 2 girls use the brains they made earlier in class, a few holiday inspired hats, and a few gentleman whose hats were so big it covered their faces.
