Who wants some lemonade? @ Wayne

Lemonade Stand Entrepreneur is one of our new class offerings where our campers make lemonade, set business goals, and advertise their companies! Our campers have a business mindset and are focused on marketing their product, financing their business, and working on proper pricing. These are the future leaders!

Lights...Camera...Action!

In Princeton's film-making class, our students are creating a movie!  We're excited for Friday, when we get to find out what the movie is about.  For now, here is a sneak peak:

Lights, Camera ... Fun! @ Paramus

Another fun week is already underway at International Ivy Paramus! Lots of our campers are exploring new and interesting ways to create for the very first time.

In Stop-Action Animation, campers are working with Incrediflix software and instructors to create each frame of a one-minute movie. Campers manipulate simple objects, taking pictures of them that become the frames of the movie. Their movies feature toy cars moving and dry erase boards that magically write themselves! Incrediflix also runs our afternoon Film-Making class, where campers play the role of director, cameraman, actor, and writer to create their very own movie.

Ready, Set, Build!

Finalists of the International IVY Robotics Race of Champions

Campers at Princeton put their hands and creative minds to test this week as they constructed both Lego Robotics Vehicles and Animals!  The camper's programming skills were strengthened as they programmed their vehicles to navigate a tricky maze.  The afternoon session brought us not one...but two robotic alligators!  They have become the best of friends since being brought to life.  The robotic construction wraps up tomorrow, but the skills learned and memories made will last for these campers!

Rain, Rain, (doesn't have to) Go Away!

The rain did not put a damper on week 5 at Princeton!  Despite the dreary weather outside, our breaks were filled with fun, laughter, teamwork, and lots of tennis balls!  The fun began with "The Wind Blows"--a great ice-breaker game to get the campers and staff acquainted with each other.  Other favorites included "Statue" and juggling games brought to us by our awesome Robotics instructor, Lou.  What shall we play tomorrow as we wrap up another exciting week of camp!? 😉

Drone Programming in Short Hills!

During Week 5 at Short Hills, some of our campers started to explore the world of drones. They learned how to program their drones and are currently preparing for their drone battle on Friday! The drone programmers are filled with excitement as Friday approaches.

DIY Video Games in Paramus

This week, campers in Electrical Engineering with Makey Makey made their own Dance-Dance Revolution style game. This class is new at International Ivy this year, and our campers are taking full advantage of it! As you will see below, the campers connect the Makey Makey alligator clips to everyday objects and then to the USB connector. You could play the computer game with the keyboard buttons, but this is much more realistic - and fun!

Civil Engineering in Oakland!

In Oakland this week, campers in our Civil Engineering: Bridges and Buildings class have been hard at work creating a bridge that can withstand weight! The campers were given a "budget" to "purchase" supplies, and used their creativity to build a sturdy structure. They can't wait to see what other structures they will build as the class progresses!

Livingston - Coming to an App Store Near You!

A camper favorite is back again at Livingston! Last week, many of our campers got together and used their creativity and their brains to dream up their own apps. And this week, we've got a whole new group of App Inventors at the helm! Our campers are learning how to create different kinds of applications while also learning about what goes into making successful ones too. They also get to test out their hard work and have some fun!

Dancing Through Life

Chatham Week 5

Here in Chatham, we're always down for a good dance party. Whether it be with the youngsters or just being silly at break. In electrical engineering this week the campers took Chatham's dance party to a new level. They worked really hard to program our very own pianos and Dance Dance Revolution game. We had so much fun competing and trying to get through a whole dance sequence. We can't wait to see what they come up with today!

Creative Ways to Play with Board Games

The Short Hills campers explored some new ways to play with their standard board games. Instead of playing "boring" chess and jumbling tower, these creative campers decided to construct their own empire! Even when we are not in class, our creative minds are at work!

Shark Week Fever Hits Short Hills!

Its Shark Week and a bunch of our Short Hills campers are excited. Our campers walked in to camp this morning ready to express their love of sharks. Some even dressed the part!

Somerset's Smart Surgeons

Somerset Week 5

There have been many fun and exciting things going on in our Anatomy and Surgical Techniques class with Jaclyn this week. The class surgeons have been working hard and experiencing what it's like to become a surgeon. On Tuesday, the students learned about the brain, made their own brain hat, and dissected a sheep's brain! There has been a lot of positive buzz about this fan favorite class. The surgeons are eagerly looking forward to the frog dissection on Friday!

Paint and W(h)ine Day in Summit!

Today our artists worked on their masterpieces as they sipped on a refreshing cup of grape juice following an exhausting game of capture the chicken! These underwater canvases demonstrate incredible depth and creativity; we truly have a couple Picassos in the making!

Our campers are always our first priority, sacrificing our clip boards to keep our little ones dry!

When in doubt, dance it out! A few of our campers bust a move in Scratch class, showing off their signature 'step and clap' as well and 'spin dab' moves. We discover new camper talents every day!

Drone Programming in Oakland!

In our Drone Programming class, our campers are learning how to write computer codes to control their drones. During this week, they built their drone controllers, learned how to lift their drones off of the ground, and made it flip over. Today, the campers learned how to play music out of the drone's controller as it prepared for flight. They are looking forward to learning more codes as the week progresses!

We Are Family

Chatham Week 5

This week in Chatham, a new batch of campers have arrived. Over the weeks, we have made new friends and connected with old friends. We also have a lot of siblings this week. Making relationships is half the fun at camp. We love having fun and talking with each other!

Scotch Plains Week 5 - Robotics!

Day 2 in our robotics class has been an adventure. This afternoon was filled with creating color sensor vehicles. It has been a challenge to find all the exact pieces and get the code exactly right but once the vehicles were programmed correctly the vehicles were able to follow a line of black tape throughout the room!

Building and programming the vehicles.

Campers at New Milford play a real life version of PAC-MAN!

Campers at New Milford took a break from creating their own video games to play a live version of the game "PAC-MAN!"  Campers had to spread out around the lines of the gym floor.  One camper was chosen to be the "ghost" as the tagger, and everyone else were "PAC-MAN" players.  Everyone had to stay on the lines, could not jump from line to line, and, when tagged, had to sit down to become a road block for the remaining players.  Last person standing won the game, but fun was had by all!

Caterpillar Races at Short Hills!

At Short Hills, our Robotics-Animals class started off the week by making caterpillars! We know that the only thing better than animals are robot animals! The campers learn to make their animals and then test their work by racing!

Imagination and Invention in Paramus!

This week campers are learning how to draft plans and dream big! Whether they are brainstorming their dream house or thinking up the next cool gadget, our campers are enjoying exploring their creativity.

In Pre-Architecture, our campers are working with their teacher to find patterns of building they see in their favorite cities, and also choosing what design styles they prefer. They have also drafted plans of their own house, but how they would like it to look!

Our campers in Shark Tank Entrepreneur have chosen their "big ideas" which they will work out throughout the week. Their goal is to have their products accepted by the special-guest "sharks" on Friday.

Engineering with Makey Makey uses an innovative system that allows our campers to make any objects into computer controllers. The versatility of the product, computer, and our campers imaginations makes the possibilities endless! Some results so far? A coin piano, a play dough drum set, and pencil-drawing video game controllers!

In Detective/Spy Lab our campers enter the world of detectives and spies by uncovering the science involved in evidence gathering and analysis. They will observe, detect, and investigate evidence while also building spy tools such as binoculars for data collecting. They are currently working on their secret spy safes and they will have other campers decode their work!

Interior Design is a class that helps our campers pursue interests in design. This course will show them how to transform plain living spaces into beautiful and functional rooms. They will examine the details of rooms in order to design a space from the floor to the ceiling. They are currently examining room measurements and color combinations that can be used to transform a room into a beautiful living space.

War & Peace Game Theory at Somerset

Somerset - Week 5

Do you want to have your own country? Do you want to solve problems? Do you want to have power? If you said yes, War & Peace Game Theory is a great class for you! This week, we have War & Peace Game Theory at Somerset and the students are working hard to negotiate with other countries in order to solve real-life problems without going bankrupt. We can't wait until Friday to see how this game turns out.
