Scotch Plains Week 6 - WeDo Robotics

Renowned poet, author, and motivational speaker, William Arthur Ward, once said, "Curiosity is the wick of the candle of learning". Despite being only 5-7 years old, the WeDo Robotics students in Scotch Plains put on their thinking caps and made some amazing creations! They made airplanes, dancing birds, spinning tops, boats, and crocodiles. A little curiosity and a lot of Legos was all they needed to learn a thing or two about robotics and programming all while having a blast!

This student showcases his robotic foot!

Dancing birds were no match for this creative thinker!

Putting our way through week 6 over at Livingston!

This week we had coach John with us to turn our campers into golf experts! From practicing their putts to their drives, the campers cannot wait to get on that green and make some hole-in-ones.

Some of our campers even brought in their own golf clubs and have been very excited to break out all the different clubs!

"This class helped me a lot and actually got me more into golfing," says a camper.

We are sad to see this week end and are even sadder that next week will be our last week at Livingston! The campers are very excited though about our cooking class with Miss Carrie!

Ivy Olympic's closing ceremony!

To celebrate the end of our Ivy Olympics week, the baking class made an olympic cake! In the morning the blue team took home the gold but in the afternoon red team won a bonus scavenger hunt question and they were victorious!

We are sad that our color wars/olympic games are over but are excited for the fun games and activities planned for our last too weeks!

Spy Kids at Lincroft Week 6

This week at Lincroft, our campers have been on the case in Detective/Spy Lab! After a week of Mad Science challenges, they are less like a class of campers and more like a team of undercover secret agents. We interrogated them about their favorite missions this week, and here is what they said (but sssh, it's a secret!):

Nick confessed that his favorite lab was blood spatter analysis.

Connor shows off after his favorite lab -- fingerprinting!

It was hard for Special Agent Leo to choose his favorite mission, but he decided that anything with balloons was the best!

Chris felt like Sherlock Holmes when he constructed and investigated his own crime scene. Elementary, my dear Watson!

In true spy fashion, Ryan said he couldn't choose his favorite lab and kept it confidential.
We are sorry to say that after Week 6, the case is closed. We will miss you, junior detectives!

Oakl-End 2016

Not to be confused with the second biggest city in the San Francisco bay area, the Oakland, New Jersey location of International Ivy finished off it's sixth week in epic fashion, by ending it all with newly brain trained campers, professional photoshoppers, and some fabulous creations courtesy of the 3D printing class.
Now if only the team was New Jersey based...

3D printing built their own degree of fun this week, as many of the campers worked to create the models of their dreams. Other than pokemon, we had corporate logos, unicorns, and tons of mythical beasts made appearances in the classroom.

The campers got the most out of the printer this week, pumping out pokemon after pokemon, as well as the occasional star.
"Give me a random pokemon between #1 and #721, quick, the printer is free!"

Graphic Design finished off their week by working on some professional creations, like removing fences from existing pictures of horses, or making their own beasts out of parts of different animals. All of the kids had a blast while working on their project.

These campers begin to create the animals of their dreams, or nightmares for that matter.
The designers of the future, learning in the now.

Brain Training students reached a whole new level of intelligence this week, utilizing games and memorization training exercises to keep students sharp before school begins again in just a few weeks. The classroom was always a competitive environment, as these brain games challenged each one of our campers.

A break in the action as these campers relax from the brain exercises.
This was Counselor Josh's face when he lost a board game to his camper.
Break Games this week were a fun runthrough of all the shelved ideas and unused materials from the camp so far. There were some good times for all.

The weird inflatable donut thing finally found a use for an obstacle course!

The paper plane contest had the campers cooking up new designs.

Rocks, Paper, or Scissors? The age old question.
It's sad leaving Oakland now, but we'll always remember the memories from the Sports House!

Until Next Year,

Oakland Staff

All Aboard the Princeton Express - Week 6!

Our campers discovered a new playground for break time since we were the only group at Princeton this weekend! We had a blast during our breaks running around and playing games together!

We had a full house for parent showcase on Friday, parents came to check out the blue tooth cars and the WeDo robotic animals! Campers were especially excited to show off their creations and explain how they had coded them to work. We had a fantastic week here at Princeton and look forward to welcoming back many of the campers in week 7!

A Kid's Experience at International Ivy - Somerset Week 6

Hi I'm Mahima, and I'm going to tell you about my experience at International Ivy. My first week here I did an acting class with an actor named Randy. We put on a play called
The Chicken and the Fox, it was a fun play. I had other classmates named Arden, Kylie, and Andrew. There was a big crowd, just like a real play. I was a raccoon and a fox. It was an amazing experience!

My second week there I did website designing. I did an American Girl website. Here is a video of me talking about my website: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxTXcXSsUC4&index=9&list=PLuBDbQ1DUI-U7fvNAiuvUmZtdpjca2qdI.

This week I am in Creative Writing Workshop and we wrote stories and poems. My classmates are Ding, Brandon, and Julian. I am having so much fun this week in Creative Writing Workshop.
