Somerset- Marvelous Math Athletes

Students in Math Competition Training are learning different strategies to use to solve mathematical problems based on the teachings of Dr. George Lenchner. Some of these strategies are: make a table, guess and check, draw a picture, and more. In addition, students complete sample Math Olympiad tests to challenge themselves. Once their work is completed, students play math games such as Math Bingo and Math Jeopardy using Eggspert (mini colorful buzzers) to stay sharp. We have had a busy week reviewing, learning, and improving our math skills with new strategies!

Golfing Pros are made at Short Hills

Week 3 at Short Hills brings some exciting new classes, including golf! These campers learn a variety of golfing techniques while spending time in the outdoors. As you can see in the video, our campers are getting very good!

Ready, Set, Launch in Oakland

This week, International Ivy welcomed campers at the Oakland location for the first week this summer. We are off to a great start, and our campers are having a blast learning and making friends! Some of the classes that were offered this week were 3D Printing, Crazy Chemworks, and Snap Programming.

Oakland also hosted a class known as Flight and Aerospace Engineering. In this course, students are literally becoming "rocket scientists", and are learning about the engineering that goes into various types of aerial technologies. In this video, our campers are testing some of the paper drones they created, while cheering each other on in the process. We are not only academic learners at International Ivy, but we are great friends too!

Ready, Set...Go Dash! at Chatham

Chatham Week 3

The Youngsters: Dash and Dot program at Chatham allows our youngest campers to get hands-on practicing programming with their new friend, Dash the Robot. Using a tablet, students piece together simple computer commands shaped like puzzle pieces to program Dash to move, speak, spin, and flash his lights. Students had a ton of fun today coding Dash to run in a rectangle, flash, and speak!

All eyes are on our spies this week in Summit!

This week our students have gone undercover and taken on new identities such as, agent antartic, agent swirly, agent 242, and agent 007 just to name a few. In addition to learning the difference between spies, secret agents, and detectives, our students have been practicing a variety of techniques used in the spy game. Some of these fun activities included forgery of each other’s handwriting and using invisible ink to write secret messages. Other activities they have to look forward to this week are understanding the use of spy equipment and analyzing crime scenes. In the video and picture we have here students are demonstrating critical thinking and teamwork skills to try to match all the keys to their corresponding lock; a task much easier said then done! https://youtu.be/gGIUBA02od4

It's Time for Takeoff at Chatham

Chatham Week 3

The drone program at Chatham has been reaching new heights - literally! This week, the campers will continue working with their instructors, Ryan and Mike, to code their drones and send them soaring through the air. Today, the campers practiced code to have their drones hover on command! Check out the video below to see the amazing progress our campers have made!

Click, click, click! Livingston Week 3 Takes on Stop Action Animation!

The sound of a picture being taken might be stuck playing in our students heads! At Stop Action Animation, they work together to create films using Stop Action Animation software. Picture after picture is methodically taken, and then when they are quickly shown in succession, a Stop Action Animation is born! Our future filmmakers have created a few films this week so far, and there are many more to come! Maybe someday we'll even see them accepting their first Oscar!

Making Art at Livingston Week 3!

Our students our learning new ways to express their inner artists in our Canvas Painting class here in Livingston, all thanks to our amazing teacher, Jeff! Students come in each day to paint freely to their heart's content on a blank canvas, and then they all try a hand at painting a specific piece. Still, everyone can add their own personal twist to the group piece--no two are ever alike, they are as unique and special as the artists that paint them! They also get to learn from other artists by watching videos on YouTube.

Students come in each morning, ready and excited to work on their next piece while listening to relaxing music to help their creativity flow. All the while, they can be heard chatting, laughing, and enjoying their day!

Somerset W3- The All-Stars of Raspberry Pi

Raspberry Pi has been a popular class this week at Somerset thanks to their amazing teacher, Ryan! The students have been learning and having fun with this program. We can even call them the "all-stars" of Raspberry Pi. A few students were creative and programmed their Raspberry Pi to play the song "All Star" by Smashmouth. Check out this clip below!
